Formativity is a micro incubator that aims to make the world a better place by focusing on the long-term management of natural and digital resources.

The underlying philosophy is that there is lasting and sustained value to be generated by staying out of the hype cycle.

Instead, we create and invest in well-engineered software solutions that solve everyday problems in niches that are big enough to be economically interesting, but that may be too small for traditional VC funding.

Focus

Formativity is currently focused on a handful of specific application areas where we believe there are underserved needs that can be addressed by better digital solutions than was is available today.

• Carbon accounting — tradionally the purview of big corporates, there is now a long tail of SMEs that have sustainability on the agenda, with few to no tools aid them in their journey.
• Sustainable land management — a favourite talking point from governments and NGOs, but translation into actionable tools and techniques that operate on the farm level are still few and far between.
• Reliable data archiving — archiving and long-term storage has been overtaken by cloud providers, leaving few options for situations where long-term rent or storage in foreign jurisdictions is impossible or undesirable.
